| | | Well, when you get to 400-500 a day, you'll be half way to the peaks I see on one of my client's sites. About every month and a half I go through a spam blitz and see 300 to 500 a day on my site for perhaps a week or so. As long as Akismet is catching them then that is the important thing. As you get more used to things, you will find that you can scan a page in about two seconds and catch any that aren't spam. I know it's a pain, but that is part of life online. As far as blocking them, from my experience they rotate IP addresses continuously and do the same with the "email" addresses they use (which many times are links, not email addresses), and they do the same thing with the website links they leave and with the usernames. That makes it nearly impossible to block them. And they know all the normal tricks to block them and the work around those things. Luckily the spam filters are still smarter than they are. Hang in there, it your attach is like mine are, in a week it will be greatly reduced. Then in a month or two they will hit again. They are constantly changing tactics. | | | | | |

| | | Lots of people who drink coffee! Can't stand that stuff myself :) Really like reading about all your different breakfast habits! Will try some oatmeal tomorrow, am curious how it will turn out since I've never made it before. And nickelbeck: don't think Special K is really good for you, think it has loads of sugar right? And it's not very filling right? | | | | | |

| | | Hello, I have had my blog now for about 2 months or so and just recently i have been getting my comments attacked by spam.. i get on average now about 50 to 100 spam comments a day and it is just a waste of my time... What can i do as i don't see a way of me blocking them so i don't get repeated attacks. i have the filter set so everything needs my approval Kind Regards ESONEULB | | | | | |

| | | Hi I was completely stupid and mistakenly, without realising the consequences, changed the URL of my blog to what it is now (wordwatchtowers) from the old URL: dbennison.wordpress.com The blog is exactly the same. The result of changing the URL was catastrophic. I now get hardly any visitors - and there are pages all over Google linked to the old URL. When people click on those pages, a message comes up to say the blog is deleted. The blog is still there - exactly the same, but with the new URL I stupidly assigned to it. My question is: Can you set up a redirect from the old URL to the new URL? I would pay for this service. Thank you *weeping in corner* Blog url: http://wordwatchtowers.wordpress.com/ | | | | | |

| | | Are you sure nobody is posting them there manually? You can control whether other people are allowed to post to your Pages, so change it so only you can post there. See what happens. | | | | | |

| | | Absolutely a problem with the theme, but whether a bug or as you say a theme property, http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ My feeling is theme property, but if so, as you quite rightly pointed out, not very useful for previously published posts that include text! | | | | | |

| | | Thanks thesacredpath, Wasn't sure if authors could delete their own posts. My worry was a potential editor (blog in question is a university society with the new president asking for privaleges) deleting posts, so I guess I'll keep him as author until he asks further. Cheers ^_^ | | | | | |

| | | Ok, have had someone else try on their (newer) laptop. It does not apprear when using IE8 only when switching to FireFox. I really like this theme and most people will have IE8 or higher as their default browser and I don't have any trouble with my other blog themes. Could you please investigate as this looks like a bug. Thanks. | | | | | |

| | | What I said above applies no matter if the site is self-hosted or hosted here, and never make anyone else an admin on your site, and I would go even further and say don't make anyone an editor. An editor you have a falling out with could delete all posts and pages on you. Contributors cannot delete anything, and authors could only delete their posts, not anyone else's. | | | | | |

| | | No. Actually that post is of this type: Title Paragraph [gallery] another Paragraph - Here only Gallery (with captions) is showing not paragraphs. | | | | | |

| | | I'm using Manifest theme in my blog. It supports gallery format in posts. I've many posts in Gallery Formats, for example: http://wpgaurav.wordpress.com/2011/03/05/curves/ . In this post, in addition to gallery, I had written details about the Algebraic Curves and had cited the source. But Now no text is showing up there. Why is it so? Is it Theme Property or a bug? | | | | | |

| | | You need to convert it into a WP-specific shortcode as explained here: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/gigya-shortcode-3-widgets/ In your case: [gigya src="http://v.calameo.com/2.1/cviewer.swf" flashvars="bkcode=0006000614059fd6bd710&langid=en&authid=vFeJov5YHyrP" quality="high" wmode="opaque" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" swfversion="9.0.45.0" width="580" height="500" ] Paste into HTML post or page editor, or into a text widget. Width and height can be changed. | | | | | |

| | | Well, I went to see the blog of Absurd Old Bird and now I understand (maybe) what you were all discussing. I see that Absurd Old Bird has pictures/images on those smaller abbreviated archived posts. I like it! I'll have to read this whole page again, now that I know that it is about putting pictures in the archived posts. I hope I can do it. =Peregrine | | | | | |

| | | If you are referring to the blog linked to your username (or any other blog hosted on WordPress.com), then it is not possible to use indexhibit here. WordPress.com is a shared environment and there are some kinds of code (like iframes and javascript) which are not permitted to ensure the safety of all bloggers. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/ Also, on WordPress.com you do not have either FTP access or direct access to the My SQL database, which indexhibit seems to require. | | | | | |

| | | I imported my blog from blogger and everything shows up on the home page. I am using the template Mystique. I want to take certain blog post I have and put them under a specific menu button page. Example: I have a menu button "events" and I want to put all the events I blogged about on that page. Can this be done? I was able to copy one blog posting but I want to copy other blog postings into the page also so when people click the "Event" link button they can see the postings to all my event blogs. If this template I am using cannot do that, can you let me know a template/theme that can do it. Thanks, Blog url: http://cookingfromaroundtheworld.wordpress.com/ | | | | | |

| | | Hi, I am about to create an indexhibit page like a sort of CV and I would like to insert it into the About me section of my blog rather than simply publishing a link to it. Is this possible? How? Thank you in advance, Laure. | | | | | |

| | | I activated Piano Black on my Gallery Demo blog @ http://agallerydemo.wordpress.com/ and found two things that need attention: - Navigation of Subpages: navigation is fine if you only have Child pages under a Parent page. However, if you have other sub-pages under those Child pages, the drop-down menu for those pages is out of sight, off screen. My monitor has a resolution of 1280pixels wide.
- Text using h3 tags is black, which on a black background makes them invisible.
Otherwise, this is one lovely theme. | | | | | |
